AAPSU demands independent committee, CBI inquiry into Tawang firing

ITANAGAR, May 9: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has demanded formation of an independent committee to carry out an impartial inquiry into the May 2 firing in Tawang which killed two people, immediate termination of Tawang SP, OC and 3rd IRBn jawans involved in the incident.
Addressing a press conference held at the Press Club here on Monday afternoon, Former Secretary General of NESO Gumjum Haider said that suspension of Tawang DC, SP and OC is not enough as there were more officials who were directly or indirectly involved in the incident.
He said that a 5 member Peace Committee constituted by the AAPSU had visited Tawang and interacted with all stakeholders to unearth the truth regarding the incident. He claimed that 4 sections of IRBn jawans from Seijosa were deployed on duty that day who fired over 50 rounds of bullets within a span of two minutes. It was the result of the district administration’s complete failure to handle the situation despite being made aware well in advance, he pointed out and demanded immediate suspension of DSP, EAC-cum-Judicial Magistrate, officer in charge of 3rd IRBn who were on duty at a distance of 10 mtrs from main gate of the Police Station on May 2.
The AAPSU Peace Committee also interacted with the now suspended DC, SP and OC who had further denied issuing firing orders.
It was also revealed that all the arms and ammunitions were locked up. If no firing orders were issues and the weapons locked up then how did the police personnel including the IRBn jawans got access to the weapons and fired, he questioned.
He further claimed that Inspector Kesang Norbu had informed the AAPSU team that he had given prior information to the then SP regarding the situation. If the Home department and district administration had prior information then why preventive measures were not taken, asked Haider.
He further said that the AAPSU rejects the one-man enquiry committee led by Hage Khoda and stand by its earlier demand of a CBI inquiry into the whole incident.
‘The incident has tarnished the image of the entire nation and has portrayed it as a gross violator of human rights in the international arena. International Organizations like Amnesty International has also condemned the police firing and are demanding for highest level of inquiry of matter. The GOAP should therefore, reconsider its decision regarding the constitution of a one-man inquiry committee and conduct an impartial inquiry to unearth the facts and help in punishing the persons involved in indiscriminate firing on innocent protestors, he said.
AAPSU president Kamta Lapung, while terming the incident as a deliberate attempt by the GoAP to create fear psychosis among the people, said that such incidents set a wrong trend.
IBCS president Sonam Tenzin, Former General Secretary ADiSU, Obuk Gao and Spokesperson of GSU, Marli Kamki also spoke on the occasion.
Bridge cut down by Wildlife dept, Yobins allege
MIAO, May 9: Aggrieved over cutting down of the hanging bridge over 27th Nallah along Miao-Vijoynagar road, the Yobin community leaders have demanded the Field Director, Namdapha Tiger Reserve, Miao to rebuild the bridge by May 15.
Alleging that the bridge was destroyed by the Forest and Wildlife Department, the Yobin community leaders in a collective memorandum has stated that the entire people of Vijoynagar Circle including the Govt. employees and general public are astonished and aggrieved over the cutting of the bridge as it is the lifeline to remote Vijoynagar area from Miao.
The memo added that the bridge was hanging till the evening of April 20 and was found cut down in the next morning in the south end, which was witnessed by villagers of Gandhigram. Incidentally on the same day, the Wildlife Department personnel from Miao destroyed the dwelling houses and standing spice plants of Nagodi Village, added the release. Further, the villagers stated that the department had Sign Boards forbidding using the traditional walking tracts that lead to the destroyed bridge. The destruction of the bridge occurred during the fortnight-long arms and ammunition training conducted inside the Namdapha Tiger Reserve from April 18 to 30 by the Forest and Wildlife department, added the release. The movement of all inhabitants of Vijoynagar, Gandhigram and from fringe villages, and entry of all vehicles were prohibited inside the Namdapha Tiger Reserve during the period.
ADC Miao has assured to take up the matter with Field Director, Namdapha Tiger Reserve, informed the release.

Give mandate to PPA candidate for development: Pul
KANUBARI , May 9: Leading the PPA’s election campaign supported by the BJP for the bye election to the 58-Kanubari (ST) constituency, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul on Monday appealed for a decisive mandate in favour of the ruling party candidate to accelerate development in the constituency.
Campaigning for PPA candidate Gabriel Denwang Wangsu pitched against Jyae Wangsu of Congress party, the Chief Minister, however, reaffirmed that his party would not discriminate any constituency on the basis of party line asserting that PPA is for development and change.
The Chief Minister lashed out at the previous Congress government accusing it of failing to deliver on all fronts.
Further taking a dig at the previous government for unscrupulously disqualifying Wangsu and Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin, the Chief Minister said the only way people of Kanubari could pay back for the injustice is to vote Wangsu to victory again.
He assured that the PPA would fulfill “all unfulfilled promises made by the former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki” for the Longding district and the constituency in particular. The Chief Minister also said the party is committed to carry forward the dreams of late former minister Tingkhatra to see development in the constituency.
Appreciating the support of several political heavy weights in the constituency in joining hands with the PPA candidate, the Chief Minister assured that the party is always willing to accommodate the interests of all sections, of people from different political backgrounds for overall development of the constituency.
Also sharing his findings from the aerial survey conducted of the area, he said the place has immense opportunity for tourism as it offered great natural beauty. He said he was pained to see several villages covered without CGI sheets. The Chief Minister also pointed out that places like Chuvam block and Lawnu circle were being run without any administrative officials.
Besides Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo, Speaker Wangki Lowang, BJP party president Tapir Gao and PPA President Khafa Bengia, Kumar Wai, RWD Minister, TN Thongdok, Power Minister and Wangling Lowangdong, Education Minister attended the election rally.
The meeting was also attended by parliamentary secretaries and PPA MLAs, including the BJP MLAs and its party members.
Pul announces Rs 60 Lakhs for AGT
ITANAGAR, May 9: Chief Minister Kalikho Pul announced to make Arunachal Got Talent (AGT)as yearly event with annual fund provision of Rs 60 lakhs.
He said this while attending the grand finale of Arunachal Got Talent, Season 2.
Chief Minister stressed on the need to create opportunities and platforms for fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians, artists, actors, sportsperson and writers in a better way to help nurture creative talent.
Impressed by the talents on display, and to see the support of parents and the people, the Chief Minister confessed to being deeply impressed and motivated by the event. He informed that he had sanctioned d Rs 20 lakhs for the talent search competition, and permitted for the event to be organised at the Indira Gandhi Park.
Further, to enable the Arunachali talents to compete at the national level, the CM announced that state government will fund travel costs of those contestants qualifying for the talent hunt. He promised to depute music teachers for all government run schools upto secondary level.
Further to promote and encourage local talents, the CM said in all government sponsored cultural events, only local artistes would be encouraged to perform, instead of hiring outside artistes that incurred huge amount.
He also announced to open an academy for performing arts in the state.
Ering demands AFSPA withdrawal
ITANAGAR, May 09: Member of Parliament Ninong Ering has demanded the Centre to withdraw Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) imposed in 12 districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the Parliament, Ering strongly objected to imposition of the draconian law even though the situation in 12 districts does not warrant for it.
“AFSPA has been imposed in the peaceful state once again. The three districts of Arunachal Pradesh--Tirap, Changlang and Longding-- were under the AFSPA due to some insurgency problems. However, the 12 districts do not warrant the imposition of AFSPA,” he said, adding that the Act should be lifted from the 12 districts immediately.
He also questioned under which circumstances the NSCN (IM) has breached the peace treaty.
Raj Bhavan is PPA head office, says Congress
ITANAGAR, May 9: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has said that the Raj Bhavan has been turned into the head-office of PPA government and Governor J P Rajkhowa is donning the role of its High Command with the blessings of Union Government.
The CLP which met on Monday labelled Kalikho Pul as a dummy chief minister, who is acting as a puppet of the incumbent Governor.
“Therefore this government cannot be termed as Pul or PPA government”, said Bamang Felix, Spokesperson of the CLP.
“The Rajkhowa government has failed in all facets of effective governance and has been superlatively successful in befooling the people with tall claims and false promises. CLP, Congress and people of the state will not remain mere spectators henceforth” it said.
“Law and order in the state, right from day-one after Kalikho Pul became the CM has deteriorated. From the gun-fires in the residence of Pul after he became the CM to the daylight murder in Naharlagun and the killing of innocent people in Tawang, all are examples of blatant failure of law and order machinery” the Party added.
Financial mismanagement by the Rajkhowa Government has also reached its pinnacle, it said while alleging that on 31st March, schemes were put up, approved, sanctioned, financial concurrence given, funds released and cheques issued, all on the same day. It further said that it has enough documents to prove how Rajkhowa has misused his constitutional chair to manipulate the Constitution and how the state government is working for individual interests.
The Party leaders further alleged politically motivated transfer and postings of government officials.
‘NEC is mandated to assist, develop NE States’
ITANAGAR, May 9: Secretary, North Eastern Council (NEC), Ram Muviah said that NEC is mandated to prioritize and develop roads, hospital, medical colleges in NE region, which is lagging far behind the rest of India due to fund constrains.
Muviah, who called on Deputy Chief Minister Kameng Dolo at his official bungalow here on Monday and discussed on various developmental issues pertaining to road connectivity, infrastructural development of hospitals amongst others, said that the first installment of fund for PSI (Pakke-Seijosa-Itakhola) road has already been released to the State Government, but there was an undue delay in completing the tender process.
The multilayer monitoring system has been placed in to ensure work quality, cost escalation and timely completion of the projects.
Muviah said he came here to call on the State Governor and Chief Minister in connection with the planeray session of the NEC, which would be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 27 at Shillong.
Informing about the status of PSI Road to visiting team, Deputy Chief Minister, Kameng Dolo said tender process to this regard has already been completed and work would be started soon. He also informed that PSI road portion from Itakhola to Check gate in Assam is in full swing.
Deputy Chief Minister Dolo has expressed his desire to have a “State of Art” Community Health Centre at Seijosa Sub-Division to cater to the need of health delivery services for the people at their doorsteps.
Informing that the proposed hospital will be fully equipped with all modern facilities and equipments, Dolo said the lone CHC, Seijosa, which is in a dilapidated condition, is catering the medical needs of the people residing at Seijosa and Dissing Passo circles, including the neighbouring Assam.
The Secretary, NEC assured to sanction necessary funds for the construction of hospital and requested to send the proposal through Planning Department at earliest.
When invited, Muviah also agreed visit Seijosa sometime in the month of September to oversee and inspect the progress of PSI road.
The NEC Secretary was accompanied by Director, Science and Technology, Administration, Dr Shailendra Chaudhari and Superintending Engineer (T&C) Doba Jini.
NDRF suggests disaster alarm system in schools

PASIGHAT, May 9: National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) suggested for introduction of 'disaster alarm system' in schools and a well-defined 'evacuation plan' in order to save the young students during earthquakes.
The 12th Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), stationed at Doimukh, said this on Monday while conducting a disaster awareness programme at Kendriya Vidyalaya here as part of its fortnight-long programme in East Siang.
The 45-member NDRF team led by Assistant Commandant Deepak Kumar conducted demonstration on rescue operation during earthquake, fire, cyclone and other natural disasters.
Speaking on safety rules, precautions and response during natural or man-made disasters, Inspector (NDRF) Chandrasekhar Yadav said disasters may occur anywhere anytime. He urged the young students to learn the modern techniques to stay safe during disaster.
Yadav informed that the Central Government has created total 12 NDRF companies in the country, which have been dealing with natural calamities and conducting rescue operation in the disaster hit areas.
"Our motto is to make the people aware about safety rules, which can be applied in rescue operation during natural calamities and other man-made disasters" he said.
Sub-Inspector of NDRF Rakesh Kumar, who spoke on technical management in rescue operation, said that there were many improved techniques which can be applied during disaster to save lives and properties.
Stating that the Himalayan region including Arunachal Pradesh is very prone to earthquake, Sub-inspector Kumar said the common people of the region should be kept alert in this regard. He also demonstrated many techniques and methods of rescue operation and explained on how a disaster victim can be evacuated to safe zone.
The NDRF team will conduct more such awareness programmes, including mock drills at different parts of the district in the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, East Siang district administration has issued circular to all head of departments, PRI leaders, Gaon burahs, NGOs and other social organizations of the district to cooperate with the NDRF team.
While interacting with the NDRF team, East Siang DC, Isha Khosla briefed about flood situation in the district of the previous years. Fear of breakout of epidemic always linger on, hence the modalities of dealing with such situation should be worked out, said the DC.
2nd Etor Giidii Football tournament kicks off at Sigar

PASIGHAT, May 09: The 2nd Etor Giidii Football Tournament 2016 was kicked off at Sigar Village under Mebo Sub-Division on Sunday.
The tournament is being organized by Koje Raseng Self Help Group, Sigar.
Attending the inaugural function, Dy. Director Relief, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Mijing Tayeng urged the participating players to maintain the sportsmanship spirit as winning and losing is a part of every game.
AE WRD Mebo Sub-Division, Alat Megu appeal each and every participating team to display their sportsmanship while maintaining the basic ethics of sports. District Sports Officer, Nada Apa also attended the inaugural ceremony.
In the inaugural match between Namsing Village FC and Kiyit Village FC, the former won the match by 4-2 goals. The final of the tournament will be played on May 17.
A total of 12 teams from across Mebo sub-division are participating in the tourney.
APPSU appeals Pul
ITANAGAR, May 9: The All Papum Poma Students Union (APPSU) has appealed to the Chief Minister Kalikho Pul to look into deteriorating condition of Itanagar-Jote and Balijan-Tarasso road. Highlighting the pathetic condition of the road, the union informed that people of Sangdupota and Balijan circle is facing difficult time due to it.
“Two major roads are in dilapidated condition. In fact the condition of road is worse than that of the quarry,” the APPSU stated. They also called on the state government to direct local administration to take strict action against those indulging in illegal earth cutting along Itanagar-Jote road. “Itanagar-Jote road has been declared state highway. State government has kept an amount of Rs 12 crore for maintenance of the road in the budget 2016-17. We hope Chief Minister will take appropriate action in this regard,” the union stated.
Further, they appealed PWD and contractor to properly construct Balijan-Tarasso road by strictly following the DPR.
“This road should be made thorough even during monsoon season. Tarasso is a sensitive border area. Due to conflict with Assam, it becomes difficult to travel through Assam. Therefore Balijan-Tarasso road should be made all weather road,” said APPSU.
Rijiju presses for swift inquiry into Doye death case
ITANAGAR, May 9: Taking up the death case of Marnya Doye with the police authorities of Maharashtra, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has strongly pressed for expediting the investigation and bringing the facts of the case out at the earliest.
Rijiju was informed by police authorities of the Raigarh district that a suspect has been arrested related to the death and a case has been registered already upon receipt of complaint from the family of the deceased. Further investigation is in progress and the district police authorities are in contact with the family members of the deceased.
Marnya Doye, a resident of East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh was found dead in Raigarh Maharashtra on April 26 under mysterious circumstances.
CM extends help to 14-year old boy
ITANAGAR, May 9: Chief Minister has announced Rs 15 lakhs for the treatment of 14-year-old boy Lammuansang Simte, who is suffering from liver cirrhosis. He announced the monetary help following an appeal from the Green Pioneers. Simte, who is from remote Lemiking in Upper Subansiri will be treated at Institute of Biliary Science in New Delhi.
Also to meet the boy’s expenditures for the cost of living, travel and food, the CM promised to donate his two months’ salary.
Model Village GB Bida Techi dies
ITANAGAR, May 09: Gaon Burah (GB) of Model village, Naharlagun Bida Techi died on Monday in Shillong following a brain stroke.
Born in 1932, Bida is survived by his wife, five sons, six daughters and numerous grand children.
The mortal remains of the GB, one of the founders of state capital was brought back to Capital on Monday.
Bida not only had pioneered to set up state capital by donating huge land but had also named it Naharlagun as this village was originally called Nahar.
The GoAP in return had set up the Model village, Naharlagun.
He was revered for his valuable services as GB since 1994 and for resolving numerous local disputes as customary laws expert and capital's first contractor in 1973 to build temporary Itanagar IB for the inauguration of state capital.
He was also an award winning progressive farmer.
As the sad news spread, people made beeline including local MLA Techi Kaso, NGO representatives, political leaders and Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI) team led by chief adviser Pradeep Kumar and GS Tarh Nachung, IPR secretary Toko Tatung, BWCs' representatives Shillong Tajo (chairman), Yumlam Achung (president), Tok Tabin (GS), state singer Taba Yall Nabam, among others, to join the grieving family in mourning.
The ACCI and BWCs unanimously decided that shops in the Capital Complex including Doimukh would down shutters of their shops till 12 noon on Tuesday as a mark of respect.
Meanwhile, PPA president Kahfa Bengia, over telephone, expressed deep shock at the demise of his friend, and conveyed his deepest sense of condolence to the bereaved family.
Day off for blood donors
ZIRO, May 9: Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner has allowed the government employees within the jurisdiction of Lower Subansiri to avail one day off from duty as an incentive if an employee voluntarily donates blood at the Blood Bank Ziro.
The voluntary blood donor should obtain proof of blood donation from the Blood Bank officer to avail the same.
Meanwhile, the Lower Subansiri District Magistrate, Kemo Lollen in an executive order has prohibited all forms of fishing in the natural water bodies like Ranganadi Reservoir, Panyor, Poh stream at Yazali, Paniye and Keel River at Tago Hydel area, Pai stream at Possa, Paying river at Boasimla, Kamla river at Tamen, Subansiri Lower Project at Dollungmukh and all other natural bodies in the district.
The order has been given to save the fish brood stocks as well as the juvenile from being killed rampantly due to illegal and harsh form of fishing during the breeding period with the onset of monsoon. The order stands for five months from May to September, 2016. DIPRO
IHRA to approach HRC
ITANAGAR, May 9: The International Human Rights Association (IHRA) said it may approach Human Rights Commission (HRC) to deliver proper justice to the victims of police firing at Tawang on May 2.
Expressing serious concern over the unfortunate incident, IHRA State President Demo Dada in a release said that proper enquiry should be made against all, including magistrates on duty, police personnel, public, and politicians to unzip the actual truth behind the incident.
Those who are found guilty should be punished as per law. Otherwise, the magistrates and law enforcing agency will be discouraged and everybody will apply the same tactics to release prisoners, he said.
The IHRA also interacted with the suspended DC of Tawang, who have denied giving any firing order.
IHRA vice president Raju Singhi, however, said that a proper enquiry would only reveal the truth.
IHRA also strongly demanded free and fair investigation and early submission of the report to District Magistrate.
NE Expo draws buyers' response
ITANAGAR, May 09: The NE Trade Expo, which began at Nyokum Lapang Ground on May four, has so far been able to draw huge response from buyers looking for items of their choice.
Altogether 40 stalls have been put up by participants from Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan and various states from the country, including North East, informed the organizer.
The main attractions of the Expo cum exhibition are varieties of Handloom and handicraft items, furniture, Jewelry, South Indian cuisines etc.
The Expo is organized by NE Trade and Entrepreneurship Promotion Organization in association with Nyokum Lapang Welfare Committee, Itanagar.
APCC objects to Cabinet move on land compensation
ITANAGAR, May 9: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has strongly protested the State Cabinet’s recent purported move to discontinue the “fair and adequate payment” of land compensation to the affected people under the on-going Trans Arunachal Highway Project.
APCC in a statement said that under the “Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013,” statutory provisions of adequate land compensation, transparency in acquisition were incorporated with an objective to provide succour and justice to the effected people while carrying out developmental works.
Apart from the aforementioned Act, the Tribal Forest Act entitles the tribal people four times higher in rates than the normal beneficiaries considering the unavailability of adequate farming land as most of the areas of Tribal dominated region falls in hilly terrain with hostile climatic conditions.
When there is a statutory guard for ensuring the due compensation against their lost land, why is PPA Govt not doing enough, questioned APCC president Padi Richo.
APCC questioned Union Minister Kiren Rijiju for his inability to address the grievances of the affected people.
He also said that the delay in handling the land compensation is causing delay in completion of the Trans Arunachal Highways.
APCC demanded the people in the helm of affairs to immediately release and pay the long due land compensation to the effected people so that the construction agencies engaged in Trans Arunachal Highways can complete the project on time.
NSUI denounce Rajasthan for erasing Nehru from textbook
ITANAGAR, May 9: National Students Union of India (NSUI) State unit has strongly condemned the Rajasthan Government for removing chapters on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru from the revised textbook which will be introduced from this academic session for class VIII in schools affiliated to Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (or Ajmer Board).
Describing the move as shameful on the part of Rajasthan Government, NSUI State unit in a statement said that it is very sad that the students of class VIII will no longer study the contribution of Pt. Nehru-the first Prime Minister of India and who had great contribution in the foundation of independent India.
Expressing apprehension over the BJP alleged dictatorial policies and agendas, the NSUI unit vowed to stand for those true patriots and freedom warriors. Otherwise, there is every possibility that we would not be able to celebrate Children's Day, Gandhi Jayanti etc in the days to come, the statement added.
PRI leaders oppose move to donate land for Solung Ground

PASIGHAT, May 9: Opposing the move of Bogong Banggo Kebang to donate land for larger Pasighat Solung Ground to the Central Solung Festival Celebration Committee (CSFCC)-2016, the PRI leaders of Bogong Block-I led by Anchal Chairperson Tamut Tasung as Chairman has said that, BBK did not have any prior consultation with PRI leaders and public of the Bogong Banggo.
Tasung led PRI leaders in their meeting held on Friday and as resolved has served a letter to BBK appealing them not to donate the land while also serving a copy to President CSFCC not to start any work as PRI leaders oppose the decision of BBK.
Earlier, the Bogong Banggo Kebang (BBK) had resolved to establish a larger Pasighat Solung Ground (Community Ground) in between AYUSH campus and Sibo Korong (stream) while handing it over to Central Solung Festival Celebration Committee 2016.

Call for action against absentee officials
ITANAGAR, May 9: The 13th Itanagar Constituency Youth Association (ICYA) has called for appropriate action against absentee officials of Capital Complex. The association has given a memorandum to the DC in this regard.
Most of the government officers are found absent from their duty which causes inconvenience to the common public, its memo read.
AMSDYWA for release of dental surgeon
ITANAGAR, May 9: Saying that the dental surgeon assigned for CHC Mechukha has not been released from Aalo headquarters, the All Mechukha Sub-Division Youth Welfare Association (AMSDYWA) has demanded for his immediate discharge.
The lone dental surgeon of CHC Mechukha was transferred last year and with no one to attend to, people are facing lots of problems, it said in its letter to the West Siang DMO.
Clan condemns murder
ITANAGAR, May 9: The members of Riya Clan have vehemently condemned the gruesome murder of late Radhi Tallang on April 29 last at Pachin colony, Naharlagun. The Riya Clan strongly believes that criminals are criminals and does not belong to any caste, community, tribe or religion.
"The clan does not or never will be against the law and assures that we would not interfere in judicial proceedings and will cooperate with every possible ways in giving justice to late RadhiTallang and his family members," they stated in a release.
Further the members of Riya clan have appealed to the bereaved family of late RadhiTallang to be wise and take mature decision. "No criminal belongs to or are owned by any individual or clan. At this hour of grief, the Riya clan is with the bereaved family and prays for eternal peace of the departed soul," they added.

Row over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BA and MA degree is generating heated debate across the country. For the last couple of days AAM ADMI PARTY (AAP) has been consistently raising it in various forums. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had written to central information commission asking them to provide details of Prime Minister's degree. Since then both BJP and AAP has been trading charges at each other over this row. On Monday BJP released copies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's degrees to dispel controversy surrounding his education qualification.
Party president Amit Shah accused Delhi Chief Minister of spreading misinformation against the Prime Minister. He demanded a public apology from Kejriwal and also asked him to clarify on what grounds he leveled allegations. Both Shah and finance minister Arun Jaitley displayed degrees of PM during a press meet at Delhi. However AAP immediately hit back and claimed that degrees shown by the duo are fake. Congress also questioned authenticity of degrees and mark sheets released by BJP to media. The party claimed that there are several discrepancies in the papers. As situation gets murkier, the time has come for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come out in forefront and tell people of India what is truth. The acquiring of degree does not matter much in order to occupy a public office but giving wrong information in the election affidavit is a crime. As there is lot of confusion, it will be better if PM himself clarifies the matter and settle it once for all. Also political parties should understand that there are other pertinent issues like slowing economy, high inflation, farmer suicide, draught and lack of job opportunities which need urgent attention. These issues affect the life of ordinary citizens. People of India will be more grateful if politicians debate on the above mentioned points.

Recent constitutional crisis of Nepal with the united opposition attempting to topple
the Oli government under the leadership of UCPN-
Furthermore, with an autocratic leader with no connection to the people like Pushpa Kumar Dahal, lacking the pensive attitude to work with others, planning to head the government has been another impediment. None of the proposed members of the coalition has any parity in their political philosophies. To topple any government is a simple task; but to rule a nation is a serious challenge and a trouble ridden Nepal is a formidable challenge! There is no doubt that the Oli government has been failing to take the nation forward in every social and economic fronts; and with an impulsive diplomatic approach made towards a giant neighbour like India to appease Beijing has made the Govt. appear as a laughing stock at the global platform. The fall of the government has most possibly been prevented by Beijing, Nepal’s new found love with a strong message to Mr Dahal. His deepest desire to head the government at any cost has been placed on a back burner. A fresh election seems to be the best possible option for the nation to move forward.

Shift electric pole
Dear Editor,
This is regarding the negligence shown by Department of Power, Basar Division. Couple of years back, I had submitted an application regarding faulty 11 Kv Cross Arm over a pole which lies inside our private compound. I had requested them to shift the pole. In the meantime, cross arm broke off last year and 11Kv wire fell where some women were working. Fortunately, the wire fell on the CGI sheet roof. The scene could have been worse. Later, it was fixed.
On May 8, again the same cross arm fell off.
May be the Power Division do not have extra poles but this is my final and sincere request to please shift the pole with specified cross arm, before a mishap occurs.
